These two assignments were probably my favorite so far. I felt as if I was a teacher and grading my student's assignments. It made me feel smart to be correcting these sentences. I realized it was harder than I thought it would be to correct these sentences. I have paid a lot more attention to my daily life and what I spell correctly. I noticed as I was emailing a missionary today that I write a lot of run on sentences. I think that the main problem with my grammar is that i'm so used to social media. On social media I have found I forget all grammar rules. I will go to write a tweet and I never care to make sure it is a complete sentence, and never check to see if it is a run-on. I liked these assignments because they showed that big words aren't always the way to go. Just because you think it will make you sound smart doesn't mean you should use a big word over a simple word. Some of these sentences sounded like the person writing them just went to the thesaurus and changed them to make it sound more educated when really it just ruined the sentences clarity.
I didn't come across any grammar errors this week.
This weekend I went to my cabin with my family and noticed that I play the game Scrabble a lot differently. I found myself looking up almost every single word and really paying attention to meanings and I found that it made me more successful and I ended up winning a lot more than usual. So thank you editing class.
