Week 2

WEEK 2: PUNCTUATION

As I looked at this assignment earlier in the week, I was feeling pretty good about it.  I opened up the the PowerPoint and thought that I knew about punctuation pretty well.  I then opened the quiz and answered the first few questions and then realized that I didn’t know as much as I thought. I then opened my book and was so grateful that I had the book and was able to use it.  I was shocked because I realized that I had been making a lot of punctuation mistakes in all of my past papers! I use comma’s quite often and so I figured I was using them right because I felt confident in them.  After starting this quiz and reading in the book, I shouldn’t be too confident. I appreciated this quiz because it helped me realize what mistakes I was making and can now fix those mistakes in my future papers.  I know there is always room for improvement and that is what this assignment did for me. I feel as thought I improved with commas and hopefully will start using them even more often then I used to. Before this assignment I already knew that I was not comfortable with colons and semi colons.  I have never been good with using these and didn’t really know when are where to use these.  I have always just used commas because I felt more comfortable with regular commas. I am excited to keep learning more about punctuation because I obviously need some more help with these rules.
