WEEK 4:
This week’s assignments started off pretty well. I felt comfortable with “It’s” vs. “its” and
I also felt pretty good with run-on-sentences and active voice vs. passive
voice. Then came the verb assignment… I was not so comfortable anymore. I
didn’t realize how much I struggled with verbs and how many different kinds of
verbs there are out there. I have never even heard of the word “gerunds.” I
didn’t even know how to pronounce this word at first. I had to ask my husband
and then look up a few different definitions and examples of this kind of verb.
After looking it up, I figured out that a gerund is “a noun made from a verb by
adding “-ing.” “The gerund form of the verb “read” is “reading.” “You can use a
gerund as the subject, the complement, or the object of a sentence.”
