I was out of town for the last week with a busy schedule so
my blog is about my own wordiness problems.
If this blog is meant to help each other than quoting some paragraph isn’t
going to help me as much as having fellow classmates give me advice.
I have a hard time with writing and not using a lot of
clutter. I like using very descriptive
words. I talk a lot and use a lot of adjectives
in my speaking so that is probably why I like to use them in my writing. I understand why you would want to remove
unnecessary words because it does make it hard to read sometimes. It would be even harder if you didn’t know
what all the words meant or if you over complicated and the reader just stopped
reading. I always think I need to get
the idea that is in my head to mimic what I am writing so that the reader can
feel what I feel. I spew that out and I
end up with a paper full of adjectives and commas. If anyone has any ideas on how to slim that
down, please let me know. I want to be
able to get the same feeling and emotion into my writing without having to use
a lot of words and replace them with one really good word. I also notice the more passionate I am about
what I am writing the more clutter I add to the piece. My husband says that I am a bully with
words. This might be true. I feel like I have a certain level of power
in the way that I write.
