WEEK 3: GRAMMER
The 11th top I would give is to just keep
writing, just keep writing, just keep writing, writing, writing. I have noticed that when I am writing a paper
and my brain is slammed and I feel like I can’t write anymore, that the best
thing to do is just keep writing. If I
just keep writing everything that is on my mind that by the end even if it
doesn’t make sense, I can then go back and read what was on my mind and try to
make sense of it. It is a lot harder
when you stop writing and have to go back to it and try to rethink what you are
writing about and where you are and what was on your mind. I also think that after you write everything
out and make sense of it all and organize it, you should have friend, family
member or colleague read over it. These
people can be honest with you and tell you what they really think. This will
help you correct your errors and fix anything that is strange in your writing.
Sometimes I cannot see my own mistakes and so it helps to get a few people to
look over your work and find the mistakes you missed.
Three errors:
I found a misspelled word and a punctuation error on the
registration form for my studio. I give these form out to every single person
that enters my studio or emails the studio email address. I couldn’t believe
that I never caught these two errors until three years later. I had never had anyone else read over the
registration form and this week I did and I found two errors that were obvious.
I also found an error on a shoe box. I recently bought a new pair of Nikes and the
little white square sticker on the bottom of the box had a misspelled word. It
said “siz” instead of “size.” I was surprised because Nike is a huge company
and so you would think that mistakes like this wouldn’t happen.
Last, I found an error on a wedding invite that I received a
few weeks ago. It had the address on the
invite and it said “further west of Smith’s” and it should have said “farther
west of Smith’s.”
