When writing a story, say to yourself “what if?” It may
sound a little bizarre but using this phrase can help with mental roadblocks or
even spur an entire series. The Purge is an example of using this idea of “what
if.”
The creator of The Purge talked about the idea of people
saying, “What if crime was legal for a certain period of time? What would you
do?” Building around this concept, he then dug deeper into humanities darker
side and develop the trilogy.
Myself, I developed a story saying, “What if I have a
character who is warped back in time?” Then I continued to develop onto my “what
if” question and now I have a fully develop short story I am in process of converting
it into a screenplay.
Recent Errors:
I was recently corresponding with a classmate about filling
out a survey for them and they used “your” instead of “you’re.” I know, it is
something minor, it is the only thing which comes to mind, at the moment.
Then another error I can remember is Freemont’s Class of
2015. The medallion was misspelled, it read, “Clas of 2015.” An error, I would
imagine someone, somewhere, in the process would hopefully catch. However, the
error made it to 620 seniors of the 2015 graduating class.
