Week 6
Using the right words can make a big difference in what we mean. It is very important to understand what you mean, and how to write it. (It is very important to understand what you mean, and how to right it.) Both of those mean very different things, simply by choosing the right word I have changed the entire outcome of the statement. After completing the assignment right words I found that there were more than a few that I had to look up. The palette question comes to mind when I think about it. Palette, palate, pallet. I can't even recall whether or not I knew that there were three different spellings for those words, or that they meant such different things. I am often reminded through these assignments or the test that my knowledge of the English language is very basic.

I found myself struggling with many of the words too. I was excited when I actually knew those three. Maybe it was because I have had to use all of them before. Other than that I had to look up more than 80% of them.
ReplyDeleteKevin thanks for you thoughts. I too am reminded each week how basic my knowledge is of the English Language. It is interesting how our word selection can totally change the meaning of a sentence!
ReplyDeleteKevin, I found your blog very interesting. It is crazy to me how hard the English language actually is. I though I knew most everything but this class has made me realize how much I have to learn. I found myself looking through the AP book after my assignments just to learn more.
