Hey everyone, my name is Trent Ferrin. I am 25 years old and
a junior at Weber State. I am taking this class because I’m majoring in Communications
with emphasize in Public Relations. I struggle with punctuation so I’m excited
to focus on improving this weakness. I work at the Huntsman Cancer Institute as
a valet and patient transporter. When I’m not at school or work I like to play
guitar. In the winter I like to ski at Park City. I come from a big family of
three brothers and three sisters. I was born in Ogden, but two years later my
family moved to South Korea. We lived on a military base while my father worked
as a civilian for the U.S. government. After two and a half years my family
moved again to Ohio, where I attended my first several years of elementary
school. Several years later my family finally decided to move back to Utah and
we have lived in Kaysville ever since.
When I
was 19 years old I went on an LDS mission to Tahiti. My mission covered over
118 islands, and I was able to live on three of them. In Tahiti I learned to
speak both French and Tahitian. It was an awesome experience; the only downer
was I wasn’t ever able to swim in the ocean. I really enjoyed studying French
during my mission and have since continued studying the language in college. My
original goal was to graduate in International Business with a French minor,
but I soon realized I wasn’t interested in business and switched to Communications.
This
summer I was able to go to Europe with my fiancée (now wife) and her family. We
spent five days in London and then ended with two days in Scotland. In London I
really liked touring the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and the London
Eye. The highlight of the trip for me was definitely Scotland. Touring the
Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle was an amazing experience. We enjoyed the trip
so much that my wife and I hope to be able to move to Scotland once we are done
with school. Soon after the Europe trip my wife and I were married in the Ogden
Utah LDS Temple. For our honeymoon we spent a week in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now
I know that doesn’t sound like the most romantic honeymoon, but it was an
awesome trip. We spent our time “gator” hunting in the bayou, going on ghost
tours, riding an authentic steamboat, touring beautiful plantations, and eating
beignets every day. I would recommend New Orleans to anyone who is looking for
an exciting vacation.
My wife
and I now live in Salt Lake City and are living in a studio apartment in the Avenues. We love exploring Salt Lake and studying at
the Salt Lake City Public Library. On the weekends we enjoy watching college
football together and going out to eat at some of our favorite restaurants.
Thanks for reading a little bit about me and I look forward to an awesome
semester!
