Introduction: Carly Rowe

Hello and happy 2016 fall semester, my name is Carly Rowe, and I am 24 years old. I have been a student here at Weber (part-time) since I graduated high school in 2010. Prior to that though, I did obtain some concurrent enrollment credits. My major currently is declared communications and a minor in child and family studies, however, I do plan to switch to bachelor of integrated studies, and study communications, child and family studies, and social work, for my three areas of study. I recently had a baby, on April 22, my husband and I welcomed our son into the world. His name is Grayson Scott Rowe, and he is currently 4 and a half months. My husband will never let me live it down that he told me not to go to work that day, since it was my last day before maternity leave. I ended up having to leave at noon because my water broke (at work). I have been dating my husband since I was 18 years old, however we finally married this last November. In October, we went on a vacation to Cancun, Mexico and there is where he proposed to me. We decided to get married fast, because why wait?! We found out we were having a boy the week of our wedding. Our wedding was held at the Ogden Union Station on November 28, 2015, just two days after Thanksgiving. My husband Scott and I absolutely love to travel, go to sporting events, enjoy entertaining friends at our home and also we love just hanging out with our little family. We are fortunate enough to have both sets of parents close by to help with our son when needed. We both work full time, so he goes to grandma’s every day for “daycare.” I have been working at the Department of Commerce now for almost 4 years, within the department, I work at DOPL. I have been in the criminal history department as well as customer service and licensing, but love working in criminal history. While there are many careers that may come from the three areas of study I plan to work on while here at Weber, the number one goal to me, career wise, would be to become a sideline football reporter, either for NFL or for College, we wakeup every Saturday morning and watch College Game Day (in the fall), and we love football. Our house is a house divided. I say go Broncos while my husband says go Bears! Both my husband and I, we also have equipment for a podcast, which we plan to start using more and hopefully can get far in that business. As for my background, and myself I grew up in South Ogden but currently reside in Clearfield, my parents are divorced but my mom and step dad have been married for almost 21 years, and my father lives in Montana. I have 2 stepbrothers and 2 half sisters. I have a cosmetology license as I started to pursue that in high school and completed shortly after, I attended the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College, as well as Bonneville High School. I am excited to be in this class, can’t wait to communicate with my fellow classmates. Wishing a successful semester to all.
