Introduction: Kevin Buckway

Hello everyone, my name is Kevin Buckway.  I am a senior at Weber and am a communications major with an emphasis is digital media.  I started at Weber as a computer science major and was getting my requirements knocked out when I realized I felt like that type of work was pretty boring.  My current job as a service technician for Coca-Cola has me looking for anything but boring.  This caused me to look inward at what I truly enjoyed doing in life.  I found myself realizing that I really enjoy video production, which led me to digital media.  I was married one year ago to my wife Shay, we had been dating for 9 years by that time.  We don't currently have any children as we are trying to get school finished.  I am currently hoping to get a job somewhere doing community management for a company.  I want to show people how to promote themselves online and have a positive presence on social media for their business.   My wife and I have just both begun an internship with a local company in Riverdale that we are both really excited about, it will be nice to start to put things on the resume that are not just school related.  I have recently taken more interest in bettering myself physically and mentally through diet and exercise.  I finally reached a, wow I really let myself go, moments.  It has really changed my life a lot and I have currently lost a total of 60 pounds.  The difference that weight loss like that can make on your life is incredible from physical capabilities to mental stability.  Honestly working on myself is the hardest and most rewarding thing I have chosen to do so far.  My wife and I are currently in the process of selling our first home, as we are anxiously awaiting for Shay to get her first job with her degree after she graduates.  In preparation we are cutting as many hard ties as possible so we are ready to move at the drop of a hat if she gets a good offer somewhere else.  This summer was spent repairing our house to prepare to put it on the market.  We hope to sell our house sometime this month as it has just become one more point of stress for us at this point.  When I do find some free time I find myself gaming online or up in the mountains riding a four wheeler or hiking.  It is an odd contrast but it is pretty nice, just when I get sick of being inside and forget what the sun looks like we spend a weekend in the mountains.  It is nice to change up what we are doing all the time as we never really get all too sick of any one thing.  I am really looking forward to this class this semester as editing is one thing I can really use to improve my own writing and more confidently help future employers with their online presence.  I do not consider myself to be a great or even good writer myself, but there really is never any harm in learning how to do it properly.
