Hello everyone.  My name is Christie Fewkes.  I am currently a junior at Weber State.  I am a returning student to Weber State University working towards a degree in Communications with an emphasis on Public Affairs and a minor in Photography. It’s been quite a while since I left school to start a family, but I am looking forward to beginning a new adventure.  I have always enjoyed working with people so I believe this is the perfect place for me to continue learning.
I work full time for a national retail store where I am a Customer Service Supervisor.  Dealing with different people on a daily basis certainly makes my work more interesting. You never know what can happen, especially during the holidays.  I have always been taught that communication is the key to both personal and professional success so a course like this makes perfect sense to help me improve the skillset I need to succeed in both my work and personal lives.
In my spare time, I am a Girl Scout leader for eight girls now entering the eighth grade.  I have been involved with these girls since they were in kindergarten. My girls worked hard to raise the money to go to Jackson Hole this past summer where for the first time most of them enjoyed activities they never had participated in before.  I think most of all, they enjoyed river rafting on the Snake River and the play Cat Ballou at the Jackson Hole Playhouse.
I am also a wife of 20 years, and mother of four beautiful children. Our children range in age from twenty eight to twelve years old. Our eldest daughter is married, so only three remain at home. Most days, they do keep me running! Between school activities such as band, orchestra or Academic competitions plus other activities like ballet, tennis, boy scouts and girl scouts, it gets pretty crazy sometimes.
When life gives us a break, we do like to travel together.  We have visited several states from Washington to Maine and most recently the Oregon Coast.  I also had the opportunity to take my son to Europe last year where we were fortunate enough to visit parts of Spain, France & Italy.  I think he most enjoyed Capri, and certainly would have enjoyed more time at the beach there. As for myself, I truly enjoyed the historical sites like the Colosseum in Rome and the Prada Museum in Spain. If we don’t have the time to travel, we try to take in a classic car show or cruise night where we can.   As a family, it’s a great activity.  We own three classic cars; A 1965 Chevrolet Impala convertible, a 1965 Chevrolet 4-Door Caprice, and a 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.  Our children enjoy the music from the 50’s & 60’s along with all the beautiful cars, and my husband gets to talk shop for a while with other classic and antique car collectors and enthusiasts.

I’m excited to learn new things this semester and get back on track to finishing my education.  This course is going to be a challenge, but I look forward to it and to working with all of you.
