Introduction: Morgan Gardiner

Hi! My name is Morgan Gardiner, and I’m a senior at Weber State studying Interpersonal and Family Communications with an emphasis in child development and psychology. I couldn’t be more excited about finally finding a major that just fits with my passion. I thrive off of building and continuing relationships with others, and making others feel value and worth.

I have a love for Weber State. I began my college career as a Recruitment Ambassador, where I spent almost two years traveling to high schools around Utah, giving campus tours, and leading new student orientations to let incoming students know how great Weber State University really is.  I took a break and served an LDS mission in Spokane Washington, and that is where my life took a turn for the better. Washington is my home away from home, and hope to return one day to live.

I returned home to Utah and became involved with WSUSA, Weber State’s student government. I received a position on the Leadership team, and this last year decided to run a campaign in hopes of becoming the Service Vice President. It worked out! In just a few months, I have become so humbled by my team and the passionate, kind-hearted students we have on campus that are so willing to volunteer in the community. The non-profit organizations that we currently serve have the most incredible missions, and help me better myself as an individual.

I come from a family of eight. I have five siblings, me being the fifth out of six. I have nine nieces and nephews, a tenth on the way in October.  Being an aunt is my favorite. I have a love for kids and am so blessed to be able to work with them very day.

Over a year and a half ago I received a job at Catalyst Behavior Solutions where I do ABA therapy for Autistic children. It is the most rewarding occupation I’ve had. I get to help each of these kids with their behaviors, social skills, and goals, to help them develop more appropriately and live a calmer life.  I love giving parents greater resources to help their children, as well as simply a break from the day-to-day struggles that come with autism in the home.

My job as an RBT, registered behavior technician, my Service Vice President opportunity, and past experiences with children with disabilities has lead me to one day own a non-profit organization for these children and their families for a getaway/escape from the world for a place of refuge.

Random facts about me: I have love for traveling! This summer I was able to visit four different countries. I am addicted to drinking water, and constantly have a water bottle in hand. I wish I could speak Spanish fluently. I love breadsticks, and buy them every time I have a really bad day. I have a love for writing about personal experience and life lessons that make an impact on my life. I look forward to my writing skills developing through this class!

  3. Wow, you have a lot of siblings! I personally only have one sister so when I married into my wife's family (she has 3 brothers) I was overwhelmed. However, my dad grew up in a family of 11 kids and they only had a 3 bedroom house - one for the parents, one for the girls, and one for the boys. They also only had one bathroom - YIKES!

I would love to travel as often as you do. What's your favorite place you've gone?
