Introduction: Dawn O'Brien

Well hello everyone,

I am a late comer to this class, so please forgive me.
Hi, my name is Dawn O’Brien.  I am married to Dustin O’Brien and have 3 children:  Jayden (20yrs), Rylee (15yrs), and Kenyon (14yrs).  I work for Edwin Parry Law Firm as a legal assistant.  I live in Syracuse, UT but have spent most of my life growing up in Price, UT.  If you don’t know where that is, it’s a little town located in southeast Utah.  It has roughly a population of 20,000 which I feel is probably a slight exaggeration but it it makes the town feel good, I’m ok with it.  On a softer note, I am a Sagittarius through and through; born December 11, 1978.
Personality wise, I would say that I’m easy to talk to and fun to have around.  Even though I am fun, I have been known to be called brutally honest and I extremely lack tack.  I say how it is and what I think and I find myself sometimes blurting out things I really should hold back.  I have NO filter!  I try to work on thinking more before I speak but I tend to be pretty passionate about my thoughts.  Many people take some time getting used to me, but once they understand me they know they can count on me to always be honest and always try to help.  I describe myself as “an acquired taste” because I know that no matter how pure my heart is some people will never be able to understand the kind of person I am.  I love to talk to people and learn about them.  I am much more interpersonal when it comes to communication.  “Why,” is probably a word that crosses my mind a million times a day.

So here is me, start to finish, in fast mode.  I’m a 37 yr. old mother of 3 teens who works full-time, goes to school, and “moms” 24/7.  Most days I feel like I’m losing my mind and on top of that I feel like my body is aging probably as the same rate my mind is running.  I got pregnant in high school, still graduated with honors, got my AS while working full-time and being a single mom.  I then had to take a break because it was just too much.  I worked in the medical field most of my life from the age of 18-29, I worked my way from receptionist to surgical center administrator during that time.  I got married and had my 2nd son and then divorced after 7 yrs. because he was an addict.  Though, divorce takes two people and I learned later in life that I could have done some things better.  I then met my husband now and we dated for 8 years before we got married to make sure we could mesh our two families together.  I then inherited a daughter, she was 6 then.  He got sons and I got a daughter.  I have had lots of hard life experiences and learn how to survive.  I also have had some amazing epiphanies through experience that have made me appreciate every aspect of my life.  I have grown the wisdom to learn from life and love my blessing in whatever form them come.  I know I am truly one of the luckiest people in the world and I hope that when I die someone else says I made a difference for the better in their lives.
