I apologize for my choices of headlines because they are all
devastating. I would assume that when you read some of these, you had some sort
of reaction. Your eyes widened, you shook your head, you gasped, said something
like, “I cannot believe that happened” or, “That is so sad!” I wanted to prove
a point that headlines can make you feel
a certain way if written correctly. The news is obviously awful in of itself,
however the headlines could have been in written in a way that a reader would
not care to open up and read more.

The above headlines are headlines that I came across and had
to read multiple times. I literally said out loud, “what the heck?” These are
headlines that prompt readers to ask themselves questions. For example, “How
did that happen? Is this real? Why is this news?” If a
headline can prompt a reader to ask a question, I feel it is a good headline!
It will draw the reader in to receiving more information.
