Week 11- Dana Shumway

This week came with both good and bad things. I thought Exam 2 was long and demanding. However, I am happy to say that we all successfully survived. I enjoyed learning about headlines this week. I have always been intrigued by media writing so I enjoy studying it. With that said, this class has taught me that I am a better creative writer than a news writer and my news writing could use improvement. I thought it was difficult to fit headlines to a specified area (1-24-3). I found myself spending a lot of time on the assignments this week so hopefully I was successful.

I enjoyed looking for different kinds of headlines. It was difficult to find a lot of variety in headlines this week because of the election so this caused me to do a lot of browsing. I was able to come across several interesting articles.

The grammar mistake I found this week was on a website while I was doing homework for my Interior Design class. If you look closely the word “dining” is spelled incorrectly.  This goes to show that we all make grammar mistakes even professionals. I am constantly noticing grammar mistakes because of this class. I hope to always be aware of grammatical errors in writing.

  1. I think we've all found we're not as good with news writing as we thought! Great post. It was nice to learn more about the importance of headlines and was at times difficult to find all the many different kinds of headlines
