A headline that definitely caught my attention this last
weekend came from Cosmopolitan magazine, indicating, “People are using wine bottles to make Christmas trees.”
Like hello! Wine and Christmas! It doesn’t get much better than the two put together. I love crafts so when I saw this, it caught my attention like nobody’s business and I was hooked within seconds of how to create this so-called Christmas tree decoration. To others, it may not be interesting but to me it definitely was, therefore I would consider it to be an impact lead (to me and others who like this information,) to others it probably would be just skipped over.

As for a descriptive article and lead, there is nothing
better this week than the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. The article in
the NY Times says “Cubs end 108-year
wait for World Series title, after a little more torment.”
The Chicago Cubs broke the “curse” after 108 years and
finally won the World Series, many fans were excited and parading the streets
with 5 million other fans. The descriptive title indicates that the Cubs win
and their streak is finally over, beating the Cleveland Indians in Game 7.
Things I look for in a descriptive title are items (for
example, above) cubs, win, and 108 year. That indicated right there if I didn’t
watch that the Cubs won and their streak is over. I wouldn’t really need to
read the entire article to get the jist of what happened. But, I’m glad we
watched it.
Hi Carly. Thank you for your thoughts. I totally agree that certain leads will draw specific people. I LOVE Christmas so I am sure I'd be lead to read anything about Christmas :)
