This week's assignment was fun. I have wanted to make my own website, and these principles have given me good ways to do that. here are a couple of principles I feel are critical to web design.

Usability

Usability focuses on what the user is going to actually do and what the purpose of the sight is for. Amazon’s design is great because people get on to find a certain item to purchase or look at the deals.  The search bar and Cyber Monday deals are large and at the top of the page.  The Amazon website is designed with the user's main tasks in mind.

Amazon.com opens up in a protected browser on my computer which disables the ability to screenshot. If you want to see what it looks like go to www.amazon.com.

Alignment

Alignment is important to keep the consumer focused on what you want them focused on. It does not mean that everything must be lined up on a page. Facebook uses alignment in a way that a consumer's feed is easy to scroll through, keeping consumer's scrolling. I wonder how Facebook would do if the posts were in a grid layout. For other websites this would be useful, however, it may not be a good alignment for Facebook.

  1. Usability was one aspect I didn't choose to write about in our assignment this week, but I touched on the impact that clear navigation can create on a web page visitor, so I appreciated your comments! They cyber monday deals listed at the top of the pages definitely drew me in last monday.
