I feel like I lucked out in life when I married my wife. Yet another example of that is her profession and how it constantly is helping me in this class. She graduated from Weber two years ago with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising, and one of the main things she does at her current job, is web design.
So she became my go to whenever I had questions this week! One of the things she talked to me about most, was the flow that the website should take you through.
One of the links provided in the lesson this week, was an article written by Collis Ta'eed, and he expounded on that, saying, "For example, you might want your user to go from logo/brand to a primary positioning statement, next to a punchy image (to give the site personality), then to the main body text, with navigation and a sidebar taking a secondary position in the sequence."
A website that I think does this well, is theringer.com. They are a sports website that was started up by Bill Simmons. They have the logo on the top left, integrated into a cool looking banner. As you scroll down, they have all of there headline stories with a large picture and caption. At the top of the page under the banner, they also have sub-tabs to help you narrow it down by topic, or a search bar if you know what you are looking for.
Overall, the design and feel of the website is very user friendly and a great design.
